 Thoughts from Sunday, Aug 30th
During the Gathering this Sunday we shared our concerns, thoughts, ideas, and possible benefits to changing time and location. Here is what what we came up with.
Questions/Thoughts
• How does a time change, change the finances?
• Where will be move?
• How will it affect Home PDX?
• What about connecting with another church?
• Do we have the resources, knowledge, and support needed to grow a church?
• Desire to be different from other churches – is it a hindrance or a benefit to growth?
• How do we invite people to new beginning?
• How will it change C-groups, JAC…?
• Will it really change our finances?
Concerns
• We would change who we are.
• Time at 3:30 is appealing
• *What if change doesn’t work?
• *Who’s invested? – Commitment to help
• * Burn out – energy
• Will we connect with new folks?
• **Debt/loan
• Good stewards
• **Location
• possibly lose some committed folks.
• Are we changing because that is what people expect of us?
• Potential larger numbers would affect knowing and being known
• Possibility of partnering with other churches or businesses
Benefits
• *Family friendly
• AM service location
• More energy in the am
• *Out of the basement
• Home church commitment
• *Shakes things up
• Conflicts with less things
• Hopefully increased commitment
• It’s difficult to invite people to the gathering at such an odd time.
• Changing location might bring more diversity to our congregation.
• Opportunities to do things together in afternoon.
• Maybe a change will re-energize.
• Culturally more of a natural time to go to church in the morning.
• May allow people to connect with family and friends in pm.
• New opportunity for change in momentum
