Leadership meeting

November 1st, 2009

Review of September minutes and approved by acclimation



Reports

* Nominating Committee: Met with Lindsay and she has agreed to accept a leadership role. They also met with Molly and discussed taking the finance piece and she will be meeting with Justin to talk about this. They also approached Forrest about a leadership role and he had some good observations and ideas for how to not burden the leaders with too much. A couple others have been approached. Liz feels that it is a lot of pressure to fill the 4 open spots just to have them filled or because people really want to be there. The ones who are stepping in are aware of this and are confident in stepping up to take this role.

Irvington

* Aaron visited the Irvington extra space in order to see if it’s a possibility of a place where we can meet. Aaron met with Ron and Patrick and looked through the building. He shared a picture of the floor plan. It’s on the corner of MLK and Shaver. The building isn’t habitable right now, but they are working on it. There was some rain damage, but there are people working on the roof. The room is a little narrower than our building. There isn’t a stage, it’s all one level. It is a smaller space than our current space that we have. The children’s room is small, but doable. There is some storage space, no kitchen. They want to make this space useful during the week as well, we might be able to use if we want. This would be free for us on Sundays. It’s not a great looking building. We would have some flexibility for signs. Parking is not very convenient, there is not much space. Potentially we can use it as a Christmas service as a trial-run.
* There’s also Irvington Village that would be a great outreach opportunity.

November 15th

* We will be voting new members in. We will also be voting on new leaders. We will need to notify people to inform them of the meeting. Liz will be in charge of handing out ballots to make sure that only members are voting. We need to meet as a leadership team before the meeting. Since there are a few members not at this meeting, we will be planning over email and deciding what to talk about.
