Lewis draws the curiosity out of me every time, adept as he is, as he explains the four Greek words for love:
storge (Family)
phileo (Friendship)
eros (Lovers' affection-- sex may or may not be involved)
agape (Charity)
For those who are drawn to British authors, linguistics, or delve into their analytical side this book will feed your soul.
For those wishing to clarify what they feel into words and rational ideas The Four Loves will satisfy some longings you have to appreciate the human-being nearest you.
Lewis hints at the joy of scent, unexpectedly smelling a bean field as he walks by on his morning walk, to show that this pleasure is a super-bonus since he was already content before the smelling. A gift, as it were. This is how he begins the first chapter (post-introduction).
